Eng 201-00AC / Advanced English CompositionDr. Nies received her Bachelor’s Degree in Writing from Millikin University in Decatur, Ill., and her Master of Science Degree in Journalism from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She earned her doctorate in Higher Education Leadership in 2018.
Before moving to Peru, she was a reporter for a daily newspaper in Jacksonville, Ill.
In addition to her teaching duties, Dr. Nies is the faculty advisor for The Peru State Times, the college’s student newspaper, and the faculty advisor for Peru State College’s Black Student Union. She also assists the Bobcat football team with academics.
Dr. Nies was the recipient of the college’s Teaching Excellence Award in 2017.
She lives on a farm just outside of Peru with two horses, a dog and many beautiful cows.
