  • Cori Christiansen graduated from Peru State College in 2008, with a B.S. in Psychology, minor in Criminal Justice, and a focus on human resources and organizational behavior. Cori then attended Kansas State University, graduating with an M.S. in Psychology – with an emphasis in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. While at KSU, she was a graduate member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. Cori started her professional career as a Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Advocate, where she worked face-to-face with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, harassment, and child abuse. During this time, Cori also completed training for battered women’s group facilitating through the Lincoln Medical Education Partnership. Following her time as an Advocate, Cori served in a variety of roles at Peru State College, with most of her time spent focused on online instruction and the student experience. She started within Student Affairs, concentrating on the creation of training programs for student staff members. Training was centered on crisis counseling, suicide prevention, and conflict resolution. Cori then spent six years in Distance Education and Online Services. Much of her attention was given to training faculty, staff, and students on various instructional and social topics, while preparing instructional material. It was not long before Cori realized that she held the knowledge of online learning, instruction, and training, while holding a profound passion for psychology and supporting students. It seemed natural to move into online instruction. Cori has instructed PSYC 121: Introduction to Psychology, PSYC 380: Adolescent Psychology, and PSYC 450: Abnormal Psychology. She also teaches Introduction to Psychology courses for the Dual Credit program and holds a Post-Secondary Teaching Permit. While instructing courses, Cori currently acts as an Organizational Consultant for several local organizations. The emphasis in this role is to evaluate personnel, administrative, and marketing processes. Ms. Christiansen has formerly served as the Peru State College Professional Staff Senate Chair, Student Senate Staff Co-Advisor, and an Enrollment Management Committee Member. She continues her involvement with the online campus, serving on the Online Advisory Board. Additionally, Cori just completed her fourth year and tenure as a Board Member for Project Response, Inc. – a non-profit organization for Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Survivors. In that role, she served as President, Vice President, and the Personnel Committee Chair. Cori Christiansen married a fellow Bobcat, Heath Christiansen, who serves as an adjunct instructor in Business, and together they have three children, and live in the Southeast Nebraska area.
