Musc 253-00AA / Elementary Music Methods for Music MajorsProfessor Amanda Bair teaches Elementary Music Methods at Peru State College. Amanda earned a BM in instrumental and vocal music education from Nebraska Wesleyan University and an MEd in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. Amanda is the elementary general music and elementary band specialist at Conestoga Public Schools. Prior to working with elementary students, Amanda served as the band director for Conestoga from 1999-2006. She was also the band director for Humphrey Public Schools for a decade, as well as the choir director for one year. In addition to her work in public schools, Amanda has been a member of The Nebraska Ambassadors of Music staff since 1997. In this role she supervises thousands of Nebraska high school students as they perform musical concerts throughout western Europe. By her count, Amanda has taught over 800 students how to play “Hot Cross Buns.” There are no known awards for such a feat, even so, she expects to hear from the Nobel committee at any time.
