Program Overview

The Pre-Optometry program emphasizes a strong foundation in the sciences, offering a well-rounded curriculum designed to prepare students for advanced optometry studies. Students will take courses in biology, including Introductory Zoology, Introductory Botany, and recommended electives such as Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, Microbiology, Cellular Biology, and Genetics. In chemistry, students will complete General Chemistry I and II, Organic Chemistry I, and are encouraged to take Biochemistry & Biochemical Techniques. The program also includes English Composition and Advanced English Composition to ensure strong communication skills. Mathematics courses cover Calculus with Analytic Geometry I and Statistics. Physics is a critical component, with General Physics I and II required. Additionally, students will study Introduction to Psychology and Principles of Sociology to gain insights into human behavior and social systems. The program also recommends electives in computer science, business, economics, public speaking, and additional sociology and psychology courses. The total credit requirement for the program is 89.
