Peru, Nebraska – The Peru Association of Student-Athletes was presented the Thomas Ediger Award by the Student Senate. The Thomas Ediger Award is designed to honor an outstanding club or organization that has shown outstanding service to the campus and its surrounding community.

Vivian Brown (Wichita, Kan.), Peru Association of Student-Athletes president said, “This is an honor and PASA has worked hard this year to serve our student-athletes and our campus community.”

Ted Harshbarger, Peru Association of Student-Athletes co-advisor said, “This is exciting for PASA to earn the Dr. Thomas Ediger award. PASA truly does exemplify the designation of the award as they strive to provide direction to their respective athletic teams while providing service to the campus and the surrounding communities.”

Peru Association of Student-Athletes’ purpose is to facilitate communication and support between athletic teams and to promote leadership opportunities and diversity throughout the athletic program. The council plans one community service project and a social event each semester.

Spencer Vogt, Peru Association of Student-Athletes co-advisor, said, “The students of PASA are dedicated to helping serve the campus and community of Peru.”

This year, the Peru Association of Student-Athletes organized athletic team participation in the Glow Walk event, where more than 340 participants helped raise awareness for sexual assault. The organization also held an auction at the Nemaha County Gives Back event with the proceeds designated to people in need within Nemaha county. Members regularly helped with Feeding 44, Auburn Backpack program and many other activities throughout the year.
