Peru, Nebraska – Julia Zurek of Louisville, Nebraska, was awarded the Scroll of Service by the Peru State College Student Senate. The Scroll of Service is the highest non-academic award presented to a student at Peru State College.

Zurek said, “I am very honored to receive this award. I have loved Peru these last four years and I have had so many awesome opportunities to serve, build relationships, learn, and create memories that I will carry with me forever.”

The Scroll of Service Award is designed to honor a full-time Peru State student for dedication and service to the student body and College. Nominations for the award can be made by any Peru State student, faculty or staff member.

Zurek is a senior graduating this year with a major in Kinesiology and minor in Business Administration. She is also part of the honors program at Peru State College.

Zurek worked on-campus as the honors student assistant, in the mailroom, tutored and was a Resident Assistant.

Zurek was involved as a student-athlete in cross-country, Peru Association of Student-Athletes and Phi Epsilon Kappa. She was on leadership for Christian Student Fellowship, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, president of Rotaract, was the Student-Athlete Advisory Council representative, and was named the 2019 homecoming queen.
